What is trauma?

Past lives therapy can help you deal with the trauma you are dealing with in this life. Let’s take a closer look at trauma? What is it? Trauma means “wound” in the original Greek. You can have a physical wound or an emotional or psychological wound. In hypnotherapy, we are interested in the emotional wounds. Most traumas are caused in early childhood. They can be when someone hurt you with their words or physically or sexually abused you.  Traumas can be mild like being lost in a shop or being told off at school. They can also be severe. Even the mildest trauma can still affect you in later life. If your wound does not heal you can develop scar tissue. Scar tissue does not feel. You may have the experience of not feeling your feelings fully. You may still have an open wound where you are in pain a lot of the time.

Triggers are when something happens in the present moment that takes you right back to the traumatic event. It could be a word someone says or the way they are treating you. In that moment you react like a small child. You are right back there in your early childhood.

Lots of people have shame about their trauma. They feel that they are not good enough, flawed or damaged goods. That’s not true.

There is nobody to blame for your trauma. You may blame yourself or your parents. In reality, it’s nobody’s fault. Lots of trauma is passed down through the generations. Parents pass on the trauma unthinkingly.

The good news is that you can heal from trauma. Instead of feeling stuck you can learn from your trauma. Trauma is your teacher.
